Key benchmark indices edged lower in lackluster trade as traders rolled over positions in the derivatives segment from the near-month April 2012 series to May 2012 series. The market trimmed gains after opening higher, intra-day volatility continued throughout the day. ITC hit record high. Gail closed at 52 week low. IT and metal stocks were mixed. Bank stocks were mostly lower after S&P revised the rating outlook of 11 banks/financial institutions in India from stable to negative. The market breadth, indicating the health of the market was negative. On BSE, 1,137 shares fell and 967 shares rose. A total of 745 shares remained unchanged.
